– Don Chance, the James C. Flores Endowed Chair of MBA Studies and a professor in the LSU Department of Finance, and Tung-Hsiao Yang, LSU Ph.D. alumnus, recently had a paper accepted for publication in the Quarterly Journal of Finance.
The paper, “The Tradeoff between Compensation and Incentives in Executive Stock Options,” includes a model that evaluates the portion of the value of a stock option designated to compensation and the portion that represents incentives to shareholders. According to the paper’s abstract, estimates from a 14-year period show that the median stock option contains $1.08 of incentives for every $1.00 of compensation.
